What is Ajenda Kenya?
Ajenda Kenya is a non-governmental organization dedicated to advancing good governance, human rights, and economic empowerment in Kenya's coastal region. Founded in 2018, we work with communities to promote tolerance, respect for human rights, and sustainable development.
Where do you operate?
We are based in Mombasa and primarily work across Kenya's coastal communities. Our programs reach multiple counties including Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, and Lamu, serving over 127 communities.
What are your main program areas?
We focus on three main pillars: Good Governance (civic education and leadership development), Human Rights Advocacy (legal education and equality initiatives), and Economic Empowerment (skills training and entrepreneurship support).
Getting Involved
How can I volunteer with Ajenda Kenya?
You can apply through our Volunteer page by filling out the application form. We have opportunities in community training, program support, communications, and research. Volunteers typically commit 5-20 hours per week depending on the role.
Do you accept international volunteers?
Yes, we welcome both local and international volunteers. Remote opportunities are available for communications and research roles. For on-site positions, international volunteers must arrange their own accommodation and have appropriate visas.
Can I intern with your organization?
Yes, we offer internship opportunities for students and recent graduates in fields related to community development, human rights, governance, and social sciences. Internships typically last 3-6 months. Please contact us with your CV and area of interest.
