PRESS RELEASE
CONDEMNATION OF ESCALATING POLITICAL GOONISM IN KENYA: A CALL TO UNCOMPROMISING ACTION

Ajenda Kenya, representing peace-loving citizens and civil society, unconditionally condemns the rapid rise of political goonism and the normalization of the goon economy in our country. This escalating wave of organized political violence is a direct threat to our democracy, violating citizens' constitutional rights to peacefully assemble and express their political views.

THE CRISIS OF ESCALATING POLITICAL VIOLENCE:-

● The Attack at St. Stephen's ACK Cathedral, Kisumu: On Sunday, July 12, 2026, hired goons launched a brutal attack outside the cathedral during a church service attended by local and national leaders. This organized violence left two young Kenyans dead from stab wounds, several injured and nine motorcycles torched.

● Violent Disruptions Targeting Dissenting Political Voices: On April 11, 2026, a political rally in Kikuyu, Kiambu County was violently disrupted by suspected goons who blocked roads and clashed with attendees. Similar organized attacks targeting Gachagua’s campaign convoy have recently been reported in Ol Kalou and Nyahururu.

● Attacks on Civic Space: This political goonism has also targeted civil society, including the June 12, 2026 attack at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi, where sponsored goons physically assaulted activists attending a public finance forum.

Ajenda Kenya’s Call to Action: Let’s Stop the Violence

● To the Police (NPS): Investigate and take action to the goons, organizers & sponsors.

● To the Politicians & Sponsors: Stop taking advantage of young people and instead organize them for a peaceful 2027 election.

● To All Candidates lining up for the 2027 elections: Organize and mobilize young people through issue based politics.

● To the Youth of Kenya: Organise yourselves and participate in a peaceful ballot experience—chukua kura.

● To Oversight Bodies (IPOA, ODPP, and NCIC): Act now. Investigate and prosecute those behind this violence before our country slides back into chaos.
